Troubleshooting

INSERTION & CLINICAL TROUBLESHOOTING OF VALPLAST PARTIAL
  1. Valplast becomes more flexible when heated.
  2. Immerse partial in hot water for approx. 60 seconds prior to first insertion
  3. This brings the partial up to body temperature & ideal felxibilitymeeded to function in the mouth
  4. Enables patient to provide accurate feedback regarding potential adjustments to the partial
  5. Any of these instruments can be use to do adjustment

Areas of denture you must grind and trim very carefully are the flexible areas such as connectors and clasps. You cannot repair using cold cure resin if you over trimmed Grinding using low speed, below 10,000 rpm. In fact for beginners, 5,000 rpm is recommended
  • Do not thin down the clasps
  • Do not reduce width and thickness of connectors

Reasons :
Above trimming will affect the flexibility of the connectors
  • Removing unwanted undercuts at very low speed
  • Surgical blade to remove unwanted areas
  • Reduce over – extended peripehery using silicone abrasive
  • Cut excess using a professional plastic cutter.
  • Clean by brush at very slow speed

Reduce over extended periphery using rubber wheel Clinical Troubleshooting
  • Most commonly faced – PAIN
  • Possible causes

  1. Ill – fitting – 95% fitted but looks fitted due to flexibitlity of connector. Note : Unwell taking impression, some part of impression had porousity, blocking of the edge of the ginggiva ( too thick/ light )
  2. The Major connector is too weak for stability causing mobility during function. Note : Not all of cases can be a very small/ then connector.
  3. Clasps on : & R with different pressure.
